  Hi Elvis, longtime listener, first time caller.

  What’s on your mind?

  Well, I have this friend, who’s been stuck in Hollywood jail for over a decade now. Because of it he’s forced to appear in all these dreadful direct to video movies that are completely wasting his talent. In fact, I just watched him in a film where his character looks at another character with a, “Can you believe this shit?” expression… and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t even acting.

  At first you think it's a good tension thriller with maybe a Mel back in form, but no. This thing is a fucking prank worthy of a stupid youtuber. Oh shame 😭

  More or less a Phone Booth/The Game mashup only it is a Mel Gibson vehicle so what is at stake is his family. A little dull and the setup limits the need for aburdity in the scenario. It should go far bigger than it allows itself to be.

  Spannend, spannend…….kann man hier nur sagen. Vom anfänglichen Hörspiel-Drama  hin zum beweglichen Thriller mit einem allesamt gut aufgelegten Cast.
  Man ist bemüht drehbuchmäßig Abwechslung reinzubringen, ein akustisches Geiseldrama, Belagerung, eine Art Whodunit, mit einem speziellem Ende, welches das Publikum sicher spalten wird. 
  Die einen werden es vor lauter Frischheit bejubeln, die anderen werden sich verarscht vorkommen (das hab ich ja doch schon mal wo gesehen !?). 
  Keine Ahnung wo ich mich jetzt einordnen soll.  Ohne zu spoilern, das Ende gab es tatsächlich so ähnlich schon mal, und auch dort hat es mir irgendwie dann den ganzen Film versaut. 
  Aber immerhin, spannend war das Teil, sehr sogar……….aber dieses Ende………so originell es auch sein mag! (?)

  Wow I've seen a lot of bad movies recently. Despite being a shitty movie, this was at least a little fun to see with a friend. Well... I should say it WAS fun until the ending. The last 10 minutes literally says "HAHA FUCK YOU BITCH" to the audience. It destroys the entire foundation of the film and I was actually dumbfounded. I was laughing so hard because I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing was real. Even without the horribly shit ending, the film on itself isn't good, just kind of entertaining I guess. But that's only because it's an obvious Die Hard clone. Not a good one either, the dialogue is cringy, the characters don't act rationally, and overall it just feels like a massive waste of time once you see its final act.

  Dann hat das Absteigen einstiger A-Film Darsteller doch eine Bedeutung. Ohne die konstante Zuwendung und Zuneigung an B-Movies, wie sie gerade überraschenderweise Mel Gibson pflegt, kommt mit „on the Line“ ein Film aus dem Nichts, welcher die Erwartungshaltung des Zuschauers schön auf den Arm nimmt und mit einigen hervorragend funktionierenden Twists tatsächlich zu einem starken Film wird. Dabei fängt „On the Line“ sehr schön inszeniert und vor Allem gut gespielt an, da mit Mel Gibson eine Wucht vor die Kamera gestellt wurde, der sein Handwerk versteht. Dieser schlüpft seit langem endlich einmal wieder in eine Hauptrolle und liefert einfach ab. Ob seine Stimme, die in dem Film ein wichtiges Werkzeug ist, oder einfach seine charmante, stoische, aber auch witzige Art…

  the plot twist was kinda nice, i wasn’t expecting that at all, but it was too long and boring at so many parts! (but my family loved it, said it was a 4 star minimum… even said i have no ✨ taste ✨)

  On the Line ist ein Thriller aus dem Jahr 2022 mit Mel Gibson in der Hauptrolle.

  Mel Gibson spielt hier einen Radiomoderator namens Elvis, der sich in seiner Sendung live - sozusagen On the Line - mit Problemen seiner Anrufer beschäftigt. Bis eines Tages ein gewisser Gary anruft, der scheinbar ein Problem mit Elvis hat ... 😱

  Bin etwas hin und hergerissen was die Bewertung dieses Thrillers betrifft. Bis Elvis (Mel Gibson) auf Sendung ging, fand ich ihn lahm. Dann steigert sich On the Line zu einem richtig guten Thriller, um dann aber - Achtung Spoilerwarnung - am Ende nach dem Doppeltwist alles wieder einzureißen. Fand diese Wendung jetzt nicht so prickelnd, vielleicht auch weil ich damit nicht gerechnet habe. Mir persönlich wäre es lieber gewesen, hätte man die Thrillergeschichte weiter gesponnen, denn das war richtig spannend. Trotzdem ist On the Line in meinen Augen immer noch ein überdurchschnittlicher Film.

  Well, this was something. For the most part, I got really into this. It was fun and just kept moving. When it got to the end though, I dunno. It certainly caught me off guard, I’ll admit that, but a bit too much for my liking. Can’t fault it for doing something different though.
