This is such a accumulation of Cartoon Network’s animated content that preceded it, from vintage cartoons and Hanna-Barbara re-runs to originals like Courage and Adventure Time. It feels like such a love letter to animation, childhood, American folklore, the fall season, and too many more influences to mention them all (GHIBLI). It isn’t an air-tight perfect story maybe, and you could look at it more-so as an anthology of tiny stories of you want, but there is still enough to create both a cohesive and diverse experience. You MUST watch it from start to finish, it really doesn’t come together this way until the final few episodes/chapters. I watch it once a year at the same time (a week after Halloween) and I always find new things to see and think about. If nothing else, just LOOK AT THE FROG.
