Hey look! Busby Berkeley numbers two years before they got famous over at Warner Bros! Busby started out doing the specialty numbers in Eddie Cantor movies, and this is one of the most enjoyable Cantor movies I've seen! Absurd and sexy, with a ton of hot bakery girls moving to Berkeley's impressive visual rhythms!
Cantor also got a great sidekick in the long legged Charlotte Greenwood! A real physical specimen! One of the true underrated comedians of the period. She's probable best remembered for pairing with Buster Keaton in Parlor, Bedroom and Bath (1931).
The story is about a crooked fortuneteller gang headed by the powerful voice of Charles Middleton and even features George Raft as one of the henchmen! They decide to use Cantor to rob the successful bakery and fools the boss into hiring the idiot. And that way Cantor gets mixed in there with all the tarts!
