"If she could travel through time, why would she stay in this shitty ads apartment?"
Paranormal Activity films are horror film critics' favorite punching bag. I generally agree with my scary cinema loving brethren, but here we part ways. The Marked Ones actually was very entertaining. Sue me, banish me, turn me into a pariah. I won't budge.
The film has likeable characters, enough twists to keep you going, some genuinely terrifying jump scares, and a captivating premise. I think this film could have saved itself some bullying by distancing itself from the Paranormal Activity tag, but I won't judge.
Am I surprised these kids messed around with demons? Yes.
Am I entertained by the fact they did? Also yes.
I will admit my bias for both found footage films and cult involvement, but this movie has won me over regardless.
