I would have shot or found another way to kill the bird if it started talking to me. Scary as fuck i would’ve killed it
no matter how my doctor adjusts my meds this movie still makes me cry like a BITCH
fuck every one of you gena rowlands sings what's new pussycat with a god damn talking bird that speaks fluent english in joe pesci's thick accent this is the best movie ever put to film
Whenever I try to tell people about this movie they don't believe me but anyway it was one of my absolute favorites growing up
Paulie --- 1998
Whoa, I can't believe that this movie is almost 25 years old at this point. I remember watching this movie as a kid and thinking that this was a very likable family movie, but one that I only remember seeing a few times, here and there.
Now that I am few years older, I still find this movie a sweet movie about friendship and overcoming obstacles.
It also has a very likable main character named Paulie (as you can probably guess by the title) and some memorable supporting characters as well (namely a character played by Tony Shalhoub as an a recent immigrant who takes a job as a janitor at an institute where he meets Paulie).
Overall, what this movie is, is a very well made family movie, but one that I believe movie goers of all ages will appreciate.
When I was 7 or 8, my mostly M.I.A. dad saw me watching this on TV and came and sat down next to me, equally and inexplicably rapt. He took me to Blockbuster the next day and we watched it all the way through again.
My mom came home and was like WTF is this stupid talking parrot movie you two are staring at? But then it got her, too. And the three of us just sat there and watched a movie together, for probably the only time ever.
Haven't seen it since, but you can't convince me it's not a masterpiece.
Parts of this hit me like a tonne of bricks. I had a pet bird before and one night the back door was open and that was the end of him, but more so this just reminded me of my time with my dog.
I wanted nothing for the best for little Paulie and hated seeing him passed around. Still, there’s some nice people along the way and the payoff is all worth it. The type of film I wouldn’t have appreciated without years of pet ownership.
This film is awesome. A talking parrot trying to get back to it's owner. God they don't make films like this anymore
