Hmmmm it’s an interesting one. There are some really nice parts of this film, the flashbacks of the budding romance between two characters is really nice and was my favourite part of the movie, the acting is also nice from the leading actress and Anthony LaPaglia (basically playing the exact same role he played in Looking For Alibrandi). The problem it has is as a drama it doesn’t really hit the spot it needs to, it is dramatic but it never becomes a great drama. This may sound strange but it feels as though it would’ve worked better as a slapstick comedy of father and daughter living together. It’s a nice movie, I enjoyed it for the most part but it’s also not the kind of movie that you’ll remember after it’s finished.
A few times a year something would trigger the thought that I'm getting old. Today it was seeing Sarah Carter, the drop dead beautiful genre actress, play a mom to a 15-year-old. Time is going by too fast. Sarah Carter is still very hot, so it was distracting to see her play a mom to an actress who doesn't look that much younger than her.
PEARL is a below average Lifetime drama with awful cinematography. The color correction is too contrasty and saturated and many scenes are not properly exposed or has blown out highlights. The cast is fine, because most are veterans, but this is poor quality story.
I genuinely don't know how to review this movie. It's so bad that I guess, in a way, it's good? Or it's just bad. I don't know.
Boo! Rubbish! Filth! Slime! Muck! Boo! Skip-a-dee-doo-dah, Skip-a-dee-ay! If it’s father–daughter tales you’re after look no further.
