Point Blank - Conto alla rovescia
Netflix has made so many movies available, indiscriminately, that the idea that they think they have to spend money to produce countless generic thrillers is perplexing. Nobody is paying for Netflix to watch this, but they keep doing it and it makes no sense. It's directed by Joe Lynch and it's not even gory, what's the point?

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to judge these kinds of movies without coming across as too much of a “film snob.” This is an accessible movie to audiences who just want to have a bit of fun with two great actors. Grillo and Mackie have incredible chemistry and you absolutely buy every interaction. It’s a well-suiting cast for the kind of story that they are telling. They need two actors that can get gritty but carry an emotional load that gets you through the story without becoming stale. Without a story element to connect to these characters with, it wouldn’t be worth our time; and thankfully, it tries. The…
Frank Grillo has more than proven himself as a capable film badass whose no holds barred charisma can elevate even the most straightforward material. He's a definable, reliable screen brand who turns heads and crushes skulls wherever he walks. I'd say the same goes for his Point Blank co-star Anthony Mackie, the Marvel veteran and a multi-faceted talent in his own right whose warmth is matched by his authentic volatility. On paper, having both paired together, on the run and out of time, in a buddy actioner that harkens to those of yesteryear sounds as though it couldn't be any more ideal. And after watching the final Netflix product, all I can say is this: neither of these talented leads…
Netflix has proven that they do not care for the end product of any material. Their philosophy is put out as much "original" content as possible, so that it will keep its subscribers entertained and isn't that all we want?
Yes and no, should be the answer. Recently watching I Am Mother and Point Blank I have to praise the cinematography. From reductive lighting techniques to gorgeous sci-fi lighting. But we come back to originality. This is not original. I hold much more praise to Fred Cavayé's French film of the same name from nine years ago.
That film then had a more realness to it, lead actor Gilles Lellouche made you believe he truly cared for his abducted wife.…

Nothing short of a total complete disaster. Point Blank is the same old action drama made for a buck that looks just that. Flat and utterly uninspiring verbally and visually. This nonchalant remake has no redeeming qualities and incredibly barbaric characters that push the boat of what filmmakers think audiences can connect with.

This is the film equivalent of Joe Lynch breaking into my house screaming "YOU WANNA SEE SOMETHING FUCKING AWESOME?!?!" while he shreds a guitar, then he proceeds to
repeatedly pummel me in the face.
I mean that in the best way possible, because Lynch you magnificent bastard ya done it again.
I'm a sucker for buddy movies, two polar opposites getting put in a bad situation that they need to work together to get out of.
It just works for me, and gets me feeling all geeky inside.
I felt like a big kid watching this all giddy and shit, the character of Big D alone needs to be seen.
I guess I'm just easy to please but Point Blank is a total boat floater.
To say I highly recommend it, would be an understatement quite frankly.
Joe Lynch I love you man.
In a perfect world Netflix would take the money they spend on de-wrinkling Joe Pesci’s ballsacks and put it to actual good use like making 10 of these mid budget action movies where Frank Grillo fights a dude in a car wash or literally just drives a car for 80 minutes because Frank Grillo can make driving a car for 80 minutes look interesting. Unlike Wheelman though this movie was boring and not good so better luck next time.
Summer of Scam 2: Criminally Insane
Joe Lynch used up a huge amount of the good faith he built up with the splendid Mayhem after I'd seen the appalling Everly and wasn't particularly wowed by Knights of Badassdom.
But there was still enough in the first of those films to leave me hoping that he'd do a serviceable job of this Netflix Original remake of the excellent 2010 French film of the same name. But by the end of it, it was clear he wasn't really the right person for the job.
His previous films traded heavily on a balance of action and black comedy but Point Blank was a serious action-thriller that didn't leave any room for humour. Trying…
Two men, one criminal, one male nurse, race against time to save a pregnant woman from corrupt cops, with the help of the local criminals. This was a fun action movie with heart and some real twists and turns.
The soundtrack seems like someone with split personalities put their device on shuffle and just ran with it...but I loved the randomness of it!
As much as I like both Frank Grillo and Anthony Mackie, this film is bonkers. I suppose they do the best with what’s there but what’s there is the most insanely edited, cheesey 90’s action flick with a ridiculous score and maybe the dumbest plot I’ve seen in a long time.
Put this on as background noise while I was feeling sick. Somehow I didn't get any sicker. Mackie and Grillo aren't exactly the best pair but it's entertaining enough to make you forget your stomach pains and sometimes that's all you need.
Falcon and Crossbones teaming up in a forgettable action movie with a good bso.
And since I'm here I would like to say something to the screenwriter: you can't belittle Star Wars and two minutes later make a reference to A New Hope.
I am always happy when there is a new Joe Lynch film. Not sure why it took me so long to catch this one, maybe the fact it was a Netflix movie gave me trepidation. This is still Lynch's brand of violence, stylishness and silliness. Slicker and more mainstream than his other movies, but there is still some quirkiness there, especially with all the 80's pop on the soundtrack.
POINT BLANK (2019) #023
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫💫
Falcon and Crossbones join forces to take down Hydra agents who have infiltrated the police department to the tune of a lot of out of place songs. There's police conspiracy, drug money, and secret files and no one knows who to trust, that whole deal. And of course, bullets galore. Interestingly, the whole "thugs with hearts of gold who take care of their kids and aspire to something more than a life of crime" thing was unexpected but you know what? I smirked and sat in awe of just how slightly leftfield some of these storylines are. And yet I was entertained.
please tell me why this movie had too much music in it.........and how the music did not fit the vibe at all.
Paul is a nurse at a hospital who gets called back for a late shift. On his ward is a gun-shot wound victim whom the police have taken an interest in as a potential suspect in the murder of a DA. Paul ends up getting blackmailed by the man's brother, who has kidnapped Paul's very pregnant wife and threatens to harm her and her unborn baby if Paul does not get the wounded suspect out of the hospital. Things don't go quite as planned and Paul and his criminal charge have to flee from dirty cops and criminals.
This is a remake, not of the John Boorman classic of the same name (obviously) but of an excellent French action thriller…
I wasn’t really feeling the awkward tonal shift here between gritty action thriller and send-up of the same, at least until Markice Moore’s Friedkin-obsessed gangbanger entered the frame. That’s when it had me.
