Okay, much like Mulholland Drive, this started out as something that seemed like it was going to have some sort of normal conclusion—albeit one with a pretty harrowing/haunting journey, sure. But, like, um, as it progressed, things get bloodier and bloodier so I just decided I was along for the ride, right? And then the last 15, 20 minutes really made me realize this film is less like a car driving to a point on a map than like, a space ship blasting into outer space. Because, you know, like, what the fuck?
There's really almost too much to like in Possession, aesthetically, visually, tonally, sonically—and most of what's to like doesn't make sense to me on a first watch.
I can't wait to revisit this in the future and continue to find things to fall in love with. That was An Experience.
