Denis Villeneuve continues to prove why he’s one of the best directors working today.
The symbolism in the film is incredibly clever. I appreciated that they were able to have the symbolism integrated into the story rather than just going out of the way of the narrative to fulfill it.
This is one of the best ensemble pieces I’ve ever seen. Every single actor puts there heart and soul into their performance. Paul Dano is again amazing (one of the most under appreciated actors working today), one of the best in the business Viola Davis puts on another emotionally gut wrenching performance, and Melissa Leo immerses herself into a totally different character.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman are so good. They have undeniable chemistry and both increase your investment into these characters.
The story is so well done and tense, highly recommended.
