  Prom Night was one of the first slasher movies I sought out after experiencing my world getting turned upside down after seeing Halloween, the first two Elm Street movies, and Friday the 13th as a pre-teen—I quickly consulted the metalhead clerk (who would let me rent ANYTHING) and his Anthrax shirt at my local video store and I left with a giant stack which included The Prowler, My Bloody Valentine, The Burning, Slumber Party Masacre, and Prom Night.

  hmmm more genuine teen melodrama and disco sequences than i expected lol. not a bad thing, it sucks that it takes over an hour for the killer to do his thing (and that it's not a particularly interesting thing at that) but weirdly enough the slower, warmer pace it takes to get to the kills actually gave them more impact and sadness for me. loved the faint sounds of the music you can hear from the gym during the suspense sequences in various locker rooms and classrooms, etc and some of the quasi-italian horror stylization in the last 20 minutes. that beheading is nuts. also one of the sickest posters ever imo

  Why was this movie made, was everyone high when they read the script that they made up an imaginary ending in their own minds that's dope or were they forced to sign at gunpoint.

  Prom night has the most predictable ending ever just the opening sequence is enough to give away the twist. What blows my mind is that it would be understandable if this movie came out in 2020 since at this moment slasher genre has a number of movies by now also people just love dumping below-average shit for no reason just look at THE LIE 2020, but this is an 80s movie and there weren't that many slashers flicks when compared, there are 1 or 2 good kills but that's it. Idk why I even watched it 😂 the ratings were enough to say no to it but fuck it what can one do now.

  Hoop-Tober Challenge - #4

  Abomination that I am, I actually have a huge thing for house (New York and Chicago) and disco music. So the fact that the second half of the movie is set to an eternally bumpin propulsive disco soundtrack means I'm already a little in love with it. The dance sequence is pretty stellar.

  Also, when the theme of your prom is "Disco Madness," you expect a horror movie to run with that, and boy it does not disappoint. The last 15-20 minutes are almost perfect. First, there's the killer. He's kinda skinny and his ski mask has sparkly glitter in it. He's got black giallo gloves and he wields glass shards and axes. As BodyBoy says…

  I guess telling the police or your parents what you saw wasn't an option and it's better to kill them on prom night, it had to be that exact year for some reasonable reason, and die trying or probably go to jail after. My only complaint is that Leslie Nielsen should have had more screen time.
