Part of me wishes this had been a bit longer, but it also feels like the perfect length. Starring a nonbinary actor and feeling achingly true-to-life, there were two things that really grabbed me about this impressive short:
1. The structure: This is a film about a queer person where the focal point of the film remains on them and their expression of their inner world and lived experience. The longest and most focused scene is a heart-outpouring of the kind I don't see often enough in a landscape where queer films often focus on the feelings of the cishet people orbiting around the cipher-like centerpiece of a queer protagonist. Here, the parental voice is secondary, eventually unavoidable. The words…
I cannot split myself, masculine world... My land, my home, my body should be like air. I should not have to claim it, or showcase it.
Allergic to slam poetry, but this is nice.

i loved their poem. 🥺
this was really sweet. not a lot to it as a result of the short's length (and i wouldn't have minded more, obviously) but everything already here is nice.
