Something is about to change drastically, and the only thing to do is to witness it.
My weeb soul is born anew. Each frame a painting. Each second of the music an evocative feeling. I wish for a feature length version of this beauty.
Watch it here. Support indie animators!
This was amazing. I love the artstyle and I love how much Tamagawa was able to do with the film in just under 3 minutes. Can studios and companies fund these people for the next big animated film instead of another boring Disney cashgrab, because that would be great!
Absolutely beautiful. It took three years to make and you can see all the passion and hard work put in every frame.
1st Shingo Tamagawa
Didn't want something too long this evening, and I've heard very good things about this little slice of independent animation. Certainly, it's an incredibly beautiful film, apparently animated by Tamagawa entirely on his own over the period of three years. His use of line work is delicate but conveys a great deal of movement, while his backgrounds are exceptionally rendered. The narrative itself, however, is perhaps a little overly abstract for a first watch. I did, however, manage to find an excellent interview with Tamagawa here where he explains his philosophy behind the film.* For Tamagawa, he views Puparia as a representation of the desire for change inherent in current society and the current distrust with cultural…
Okay, yeah. It's really beautiful. Visually musically, and emotionally, this is a fucking three-minute trip. It's sort of hard for me to dissect this and assign "meaning" behind it, but it isn't hard for me to appreciate it for what it is.
a wordless 2.5-minute independently-produced anime short that manages to be more compelling than most studio productions i've seen from the last decade. watch it here
This was stunning. Love the animation, it took my breath away. Hopefully there will be more from Shingo Tanagawa, his work is stunning.
Not so much of a narrative to speak of (which is hard to pull in just 3 minutes), but the details and the quality of the animation is astounding. I also love how the style harkens back to the late 80's, early 90's. I'll be keeping an eye on Shingo Tamagawa from now on.
I was in such a state of enchantment that my constant pauses had me spending upwards of twenty minutes watching a delicate three-minute animation. Shadowy, fantastical and other-worldly creatures provide an air of ethereal mystery to a well-patterned and stunning piece of art that feels as apocalyptic as it does pretty.
Such immaculate character designs and settings.
I can’t tell you exactly what this is but I need so much more. Anything the animator creates in the future is an automatic must-watch for me.
