Qarib Qarib Single, Almost Single
I miss him already. So so much. In such an average film, he outdid my expectations yet again with his flawless performance, Irfan ji, you are Gold. A gold that will shine till the end of time.
Sekilas ngingatin sama Mantan (2017), karena sama-sama tentang 'mengunjungi' mantan. Samanya itu aja sih. Selebihnya beda banget hehe.
Knowing Parvathy from her Malayalam and Tamil outings (Take Off, Poo, Bangalore Days, Maryan), her multi-layered acting prowess wasn’t surprising in this sweet, little but flawed ambitious film.
Her dubbing and ‘looking into the fourth wall’ acts were also easy to warm up to. What was surprising was her ability to give Irrfan Khan an almost-run (literally) for such crackling screen presence. I think it’s high time Bollywood wakes up to such women - outside templatish looks: bony cheeks & pouts and rely on a purposeful mix of acting talent and grace (although I wish they had left her curls as is).
Yes, we’ve seen Khan do such gypsy/philosopher/brooding shaayar roles previously, but I think more than the boring predictability that’s anticipated, it’s…
Nemu jackpot film India yang ga pake joged hee....
Bajunya Jaya culucu, pingiiinnn...
Well, the movie is a memorable journey that will make your day. No over hyped drama, no glamorous dolls but a perfect blend of emotions will keep you attached with the trip till it finishes off. Ehe.
Irrfan Khan softly speaking to his abandoned suitcase got me 🥺 This film is like a bottomless plate of comfort food. Something about the calm, yet excitable Viyogi is absolutely 💖 At the same time, I love how realistic Jaya’s reaction is, while not breaking the whims of the rom-com genre. I just had a massive smile on my face for almost the entire run-time — there’s also a reference to DDLJ that was kind flipped on its head and I am living for it.
One can ask what is cinema supposed to be and a range of answers would be produced depending on whether a "cinephile" is speaking or just a "casual film-goer". One of those may complain that this film follows a rather set format that endlessly has been found in similar films in Bollywood. Even though that may be true, leaving the film with merely that stamp of judgement would be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I went into this film expecting what was to come and though it more or less turned out to be that way I didn't mind that as much. I ending up stayimg with the film towards the end which really has to do with…

Enjoyed the journey and modern view of India. Their characters grew on me and there were a number a really touching moments. A lighthearted trip.

a movie where the story is falling in love with irrfan khan is pretty relatable!! this is a cute movie, that is about 15 min too long. Parvathy is so endearing and her performance feels lived in. beautifully shot as well.
I never thought, one day i would be crying while watching Qarib Qarib Singlle. While this may not be a perfect film, average at least. The outstanding pair of Parvathy and Irrfan makes this a joy ride to watch. Probably one of the smartest pairings for a rom-com in a long time.
This film needs a second watch to understand better, then only you can understand the ideals about love the writer is trying to put forward and they are mainly about the false notions of love we have, the two protagonists are hopeless romantics. They embark on a journey and come across a feeling that makes them realise love is just much more than what we are taught in…
