There's something really charming about the presentation of this. Fargo is pretty restrained and well put together compared to this, there's a real manic energy to the filmmaking, it almost feels haphazard, like their baby stealing plan. I love how you can see the hands placing the baby on Nic Cage's back when it was supposed to have fallen, and I love how the camera gets kicked and ran into a couple of times, inadvertently breaking the fourth wall but in a way that just kinda adds to the hyperrality of it, as if the filmmaking is meant to match the chaos of the plot. I also wanted to mention the chase scenes, with the handheld camera, running after the characters. It looks fantastic.
Nic Cage is incredible in this. I wish he would just stick to this really eccentric type of character. It's where he really shines.
