Rascal is the tale about a boy and his pet raccoon. One of Disney's lesser-known live-action entries, the film often does feel formulaic to a tee (boy and his pet story, neglectful father, dead mother, you get the gist, Disney and their dysfunctional families), but even as one of the first releases after Walt's death, the studio's abilities to tackle emotional weight is still carried through solid enough.
