Synopsis
When civil engineer Siddharth is arrested for a murder on the basis of a pictorial evidence, cops discover his lookalike Aditya and realize they have only 48 hours to solve the case.
2021 Directed by Kishore Tirumala
When civil engineer Siddharth is arrested for a murder on the basis of a pictorial evidence, cops discover his lookalike Aditya and realize they have only 48 hours to solve the case.
A very, very bad remake that literally is nothing but a slower, frame-to-frame adaptation of the not-so-clever original.
Watched along with few first-time viewing friends and they were literally bored to death with the snail-paced screenplay.
This is not Kishore Tirumala's stronghold. He should stick to dramas.
Started streaming this film just now in Netflix, and saw "Ustaad" Ram Pothineni in titles, now I lost interest to watch it !!
Not the worst thing but also, isn't anything mind-blowing. The black and white duality that it presents soon became stale as it was more predictable than it was jarring. However, Ram is proving to be one of the more exciting actors working today. So that's a positive.
Excellently executed but somehow still doesn't meet Thadam's standard!
cinematography decisions were really fascinating (The red and blue hues).
A watchable remake which lacks the punch delivered by the original. Ram’s intense look, visuals which suited the mood of every scene and Manisharma’s bgm are my takeaways from this film.
a good one time watcher
the cinematography is a bit whack but the one scene where they show him doing gambling as an adult is so hot in terms of how the camera was rolling
songs were absolutely horrible tho
Red is a good remake and did justice to its original. Ram shines with his dual role. Go for it only if you haven't watched original or don't remember the story if watched.
A special mention to Mani Sharma BGM. It's best in recent times. Electrifying at sometimes and emotional at sometimes, he got the nerve of the audience with his tune.
Not good as original
Decent 1st half & Average 2nd half. Little bit draggy and as expected interval & climax portions were good.
Movie could have been better.
Those who haven't watched the original may like it.
Red is an utterly disappointing remake as it's no where near to the original. Though the scale of the film is bigger than the original, the execution isn't! Not everything works with higher production values and makers need to understand it! And definitely not when you induce unnecessary commercial shit elements in an almost perfect plot in your hand!
There are places where makers introduced something new than what the original offered, I actually admire it when the makers try something unique even though when they are remaking a already in hand film, BUT not here! Why!? Because it's too cringe over here!
There are very few minute changes from the original, which I didn't buy at all, like in…
#Red starts with usual Telugu Masala Film Template in the first half. In the second half, it raises expectations and shows potential of being something smarter. But in the end, it suffices itself by being just smart.

Haven't watched the original so can't talk about how honest is the remake. The script and storyline were great. Keeps you hooked till the very end. The pacing is slow, The movie takes ample time to set up the case which could have been cut out.
My opinion on Kishore Tirumala's venture into a different genre is mixed, direction feels sloppy at times. Screenplay isn't that tight.
The movie has a great story. Ram is more compelling as 'Adithya' than 'Siddharth'. If the movie omitted the commercial elements it could have been a impressive thriller. Mani Sharma's music is a huge plus to the movie.

Great stories are simple at its heart. Red has a good one too, but just a good story doesn't make a great film. Ram did a splendid job portraying both the characters. Had a flat start but was set up nicely for the 2nd half. Nivetha as usual was good. Cinematography lacked a bit, direction could have been better with some crisp writing and visuals.
they dragged the story way too long...liked the bgm though. Also the premise of the movie reminded me of the movie Hare Ram.
Red(2021) is an so far edge of the seat thriller with some flaws...
When civil engineering siddhartha is arrested for a murder on basics of pictorial evidences cops discovered his lookalike aditya and realize they have only 48 hours to go ? What happens next ? Who is the real culprit ?
This is a mind blending so called edge of the seat and am sure "the devil is in within the details", also as this is a remake of well acclaimed Tamil movie THADAM(should rewatch this again this is masterpiece) every thing goes in well planned mannered...this movie both (red, thadam) also remembered me the mind blending movie ittefaq(2017)...
