The script seemed to be lesbophobic. The actresses are great. Watching the film is indeed a ride. With few good things and too much bad things happening, your interest in it just dies.
*Rewatched and gave it ⭐⭐⭐⭐❤️. Here's why.
Two separate sex scenes of a lesbian having sex with men for no reason, and then when the lesbian finally gets to sleep with another woman, the first thing she says is "isn't it so sad that i don't have a dick". I would have hoped we were passed lesbian movies being this obviously made by men but this was just terrible in nearly every way possible.
Could either pass for a homophobic PSA about the dangers of lesbians corrupting straight girls, or as a PSA for lesbians about the dangers of crushing on straight girls. But really its just a softcore porno made for men's ideas of what lesbians are.
I first watched this almost a year ago and I hated it. But all this time, I've been reading both positive and negative reviews about it. Since I agreed with the negatives, I focused on the positives and wondered why I missed all those things. That's why I've been meaning to watch it again. Now that I have, I can say that I love it. I can't help but think of Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) and The Children's Hour (1961) for loving this on a rewatch. They have different stories, but my point is that I didn't like both of the said films on my first watch. These three films have similarities, though. They're all gay and…
FREE MY GIRL
this is kind of bad and obviously written and directed by a fucking man BUT i am giving it 4 stars and it's kind of a stretch but omg NO ONE knows how much kiko mizuhara being unashamedly gay means to me. kiko mizuhara driving. kiko mizuhara being a doctor. kiko mizuhara killing a man. kiko mizuhara dripping in blood. kiko mizuhara drinking a shot of tequila. kiko mizuhara holding a woman!!! anyway i'll probably watch it like 4 more times because she looked completely unreal throughout the whole fucking movie and im very gay.
in other news, it also AMAZES me how the fuck does any guy in this film think someone that looks like kiko…
Hiroki Ryuichi’s “Ride or Die” begins with a premise that sounds like the stuff of hard-boiled neo-noir: Abused by men her entire life, a straight Japanese housewife coerces the long-estranged lesbian friend who’s been in love with her since high school to kill her violent husband. And yet from the start it feels like we’re missing a few key details in the fine print of what’s going on here — there’s something almost right fluttering beneath all this wrong.
Sordid as it might be for Nanae (Sato Honami) to offer her sex to Rei (Mizuhara Kiko) in exchange for a murder, the manipulation is so brazen that it bends all the way back around to its own kind of ineffable…
how dare you show me a straight sex scene with a lesbian main character in it? no matter what the context is, that shit is so fucking weird like are you cunts fucking bent? if you’re a straight male director looking to direct lesbian movies consider this: DONT. you think you really did something with two and a half hours of nonsensical, male gaze-plagued of a movie? retire bitch!
scratches ass...
it was so hard to finish this so i fast-forwarded it and i hate fast-forwarding when i'm watching movies even though they're bad but i couldn't help myself this time. 142 minutes for this shit? come on now.
it's 2021, cishet men. please stop directing wlw films with the lesbophobia you have inside of you. you are not the park chan-wook you think you are. he would probably step on y'alls ugly faces, by the way.
there were so many wrong things with this and it's not just that making it really tasteless. this also wasn't even a good movie in so many aspects.
to be honest, i was not expecting much because netflix original sapphic movies tend…
