I'm gonna go moan about the isolating social landscape of assumed heterosexuality.
The worst part of 'Inside Out' was its lazy presumptions on gender identity. That's much the same here, where mom's sexuality is Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" and Dad's sexuality is ACDC. C'mon, mom! Break that crap with some FKA Twigs!
I know I touched on this in my Inside Out review, but this short goes to show how much potential there is for an Inside Out sequel. Just seeing Riley’s emotions react to different parts of growing up sounds really intriguing. It’s probably the only Pixar sequel that I’d be ok seeing the trailer for in my recommendations (also possibly Coco 2, I don’t know, maybe that could work).
Also, this is just a random thought I had: why do all the other characters in Inside Out have strictly male or female emotions, but Riley has a mix of both? Are they possibly hinting at something there, or am I just reading too much into this?
I wish the original feature had some more scenes with the parents’ emotions. They’re hilarious!
List: My Pixar Ranking
It was entertaining, funny, and fun, but it’s way too short! It barely lasted 3 minutes
One of the most entertaining shorts, and pretty funny as most of the jokes land. I don’t like Inside Out as a whole but do like the premise and characters which are best showcased here.
