Finally got around to watching the sequel and it was about on par with the first film. I kind of had the same feelings as the first film. Solid voice work, the colors look amazing, and while there was only a few songs this time, once again, nothing catchy.
The new characters actually improve the cast, as Garcia was a lot of fun as Hathaway's long lost father, and Chenoweth as a frog in love with Nigel, the bad bird from the first film, is amusing.
That said, the film was so fully of subplots, it didn't much need to bring Nigel back from the dead for this film. There was enough going on without him, not to mention he barely does anything.
Mars seems forced here as well, like just to get a big musical name in the cast.
If you enjoyed the first film, you'll like this one too.
