Apparent on-location filming and scenic backdrops help this modestly paced globetrotting tale, but with some especially clunky dialogue, unclear plot elements, and a final hilarious sports-movie level slo-mo moment, this is only necessary for huge Andie MacDowell fans. Hahahahahaha just kidding- no such thing.
Horrible. Pretty people in exotic places does not make a good movie. I usually love Andie MacDowell but she was terrible in this one. Liam Neeson and Viggo Mortenson were not much better. MacDowell's voice over was one of the worst in movies. It made Harrison Ford's voiceover in Bladerunner seem like a classic gem.
Exotica tourist adventure with Andie going around the world on a treasure hunt for hidden money and her missing husband, dodging bad guys, untangling an arms-smuggling ring (and even cracks a code involving baseball cards!) before encountering Liam (uh oh, he's wearing round glasses). Turns out you can't cheat on a dead man (or catch a dead man). Very pleasing-to-the-eye 35mm fuzzy film goes well with the vivid international scenery—never more have I thought repeatedly over the course of a movie that the main character needs to get hold of a gun. I really liked the baseball-themed ending. Great trailer (albeit probably more exciting than the film).
the opening of this is just a bunch of pictures of viggo and i wish that had been the whole movie tbh
Dt.
A five dollar bargain from Walmart. Liam Neeson, Vigo Mortenson. What could go wrong? This movie astounded me. The sheer talent that the director had to choose a dp who couldn’t frame properly was a bold choice: but affective. Thankfully this was made before Phantom Menace, because only the Lord above knew how much Liam would need this, so that when his role for Star Wars came, he could feel like it was a step in the right direction. Oh, Viggos small role was fantastic. I am so glad that he was underutilized, so that he could prepare for his Oscar worthy performances to come. I applaud the director for making something so forgettable, and yet just memorable enough to…
A Flaky womans even flakier husband fakes his own death while she lives in the ghetto
along the way she meets up with a very hunky ,very earnest doctor for the hungry
she traces the husbands money trail to all parts of the world using his rather intriguing marks on a stash of baseball cards he left behind in some skanky spider infested airport place in Mexico where he supposedly died in a crash
the voice over by ms Mcdowell borders on camp but she fives a spirited performance
Liam Neeson makes the film that much better by just being there
Viggo Mortensen as the duplictious husband is equally a goof and liar
Unnecessary plot twists, rushed ending, mid acting, extremely dull.
How does my dad find the worst stuff to watch for movie night? We were going to watch WarGames (my pick) with Matthew Broderick in it which would have been a great movie for the fam but my dad won the raffle and wanted to watch this because “Liam Neeson is in it.” Now that this dull piece of trash is over, I’m going to watch WarGames alone. That’s 2 hours of my Thanksgiving break I’ll never get back.
>:(
It's on Netflix, was not one of Liam's better films. Nothing keeps you interested, you could easily zone out to it. It would be something I would have playing while cooking dinner, or with guests over.
