What a discovery for me!
An action-comedy version of First Blood, one year before First Blood came out. If you love to watch rednecks get bamboozled for 90 minutes, then you'll enjoy the heck out of this.
Dirk Benedict is surprisingly competent as a Vietnam vet suffering from PTSD, drifting into a small redneck town. The opening 10-15 minutes feels more like a suspense film. It's completely straight. However, once the trouble starts, the hillbilly score kicks in and even though the violence gets bombastic, it's bloodless and deathless. Ironically, given the star of the film, it feels like watching action sequences from The A-Team TV series. Motorbike chases, car chases, boat chases.
