In 2017, the door to door salesman is an ancient relic.
In 1969, when Salesman was released, it's still antiquated.
But the fact that this film still rings true is quite honestly nothing short of some damn fine filmmaking.
I know a lot of people find themselves emotionally stirred throughout, I have to say for me, it only came in chunks. But what was constant for me, was the intrigue. These people are desperate.
The salesman, the "customers", and the company tying to sell these bibles, are all...desperate. Because of how far removed the door to door salesman idea is from our current reality, it was hard for me to connect all the time, but watching these men grind and often times come up short, did have moments of pay off.
An interesting look at a time gone bye.
