Segundo López, a mature and humble man who hardly knows anything about life, sets out on a journey from his homeland, Cáceres, to Madrid, where he meets Chirri, a street urchin with whom he has countless adventures.
Very interesting Spanish film directed by Ana Mariscal with her also playing a role in the film. It's similar to some Italian neorealist films with non-actors playing the leads and it looks at poverty in Madrid. At the centre of the film is Segundo López who gives up his business in a small town to go off and see Madrid with no plan as he spends all of his money as he goes. With his positive attitude he just keeps going and runs into interesting people along the way all providing glimpses of different aspects of Spanish society at the time.
