"I only exist in the memories of others. Once you forget something, it never happened."
Woah. That hurt my head. Imagine The Matrix (1999), Transcendence (2014), and existentialism except with anime school girls. It's better than you think.
This goes waaay deeper into all kinds of crazy avenues with its exploration of existence, connectivity, memory, consciousness, and technology.
I'm not sure I could sit through it again because the first 10 episodes are a bit of a push to get through, but the last 3 definitely make it worth the effort. I think overall this anime feels very unstructured and is largely unnecessarily vague and cryptic. Still a great, unique show, just could have benefited from some tightening up.
Glad I saw it, but probably won't visit it again. Also, googling 'Lain' is crazy meta, isn't it?
