2019 ‘சில்லுக்கருப்பட்டி’ Directed by Halitha Shameem
An anthology of four romantic stories across four age groups connected by that magical thread called love.
A simple and sweet romantic anthology, that’s beautifully written, capturing the essence of compassion and love, with four different stories, from different phases of life and backdrops. It’s got such a warm refreshing vibe with lovable characters, engrossing performances, subtle humor, soothing music and aesthetic visuals. The subtle interconnection between the episodes and characters, add to its human connection theme. There is an infectious warmth and tenderness, making you slenderly smile throughout and fall in love with its world. A highly recommended feel good delightful drama.
Just Fabulous!
Loved the way they interwined the four stories in a subtle manner!
Selama nonton udah kaya orang gila, dibikin senyum-senyum sendiri. But thankyou for all of that. Suka sama cerita yang pertama dan kedua, maniss sekali..
Iiih India ini yaaaaa kalau bikin antologi memang juaranya. Film antologi dari Tamil ini hangat dan manis. Keempat ceritanya sukses bikin senyam-senyum.
Cerita pertama tentang jatuh cintanya si pemulung umur belasan tahun tanpa pandangan pertama. Ngingatin aku sama The Lunchbox (2013).
Cerita kedua tentang jatuh cinta karena obrolan pertama, antara meme creator pengidap kanker dan perempuan manis berprofesi desainer.
Cerita ketiga tentang jatuh cinta pada pandangan pertama antara dua lansia. Satunya duda, satunya kelewat mandiri sampai nggak pernah nikah.
Cerita keempat.... anjir CERITA KEEMPAT BIKIN AKU SENYAM-SENYUM BONUS MENANGES.
Judulnya "Hey, Ammu!" Tentang Amudhini (Sunaina), istri yang ngerasa hubungannya sama suami itu flat dan boring, bahkan mikir kalau suaminya udah nggak sayang lagi. Akibat Amudhini ngomel panjang udah kayak Marie-nya…
Finally an anthology in which each story worked for me( Kakka Kadi gave me goosebumps). Flawlessly acted nary a single false note. Romantic, touching, funny and so much more. Thank you so much Netflix. One of my favourite films of the year.
Very good n Honest work. "Hey ammu" was the most impressive and relatable. Director stamp everywhere in the great dialogs and quirky observations. Maybe because director is female, male characters have come out displaying lot of vulnerability. Film could have benefitted from a more tighter script and better scene transitions. Refreshing work overall.
An anthology film with four stories, each competing one another to be the worst. Apparently, all the four win!!
Feels like a warm hug on a cold winter day.
Couldn't help but smile throughout.
There are a few cringy moments but they are compensated for by a lot more gooey warm scenes.
Pradeep Kumar needs to make more music.
The man turns even the ordinary into something magical!
Loved 3 out of the 4 shorts.
Glad to see samuthirakani in this zone. He needs to chill and do more stuff like this.
Nice feel good movie to brighten up your day!
Once you found them, don't let them go.
The last segment of the anthology is more character driven than all the three and the only segment that single handedly tried to keep the boat afloat. Just putting a camera and roll the space between a married couple and their attempts at understanding their better halves for more meaningful communication to resolve the gap between them. Only segment that worked quite solidly or atleast had some soul behind it.
First three was very one directional in its approach. More clinical that it just seems so artificial. Low-key in what it wants to portray and ambiguous in its execution of the idea.
The last movie of the decade ended in a sugar high. As the title suggests - like a box of candies, each short shaved out of a larger theme of ever-pervading love yet showcasing its distinctive flavours. I was reminded of C/O Kancherla Palem, for its exploration of love across ages. But Sillu Karupatti is more cinematic, ambitious and importantly more hopeful in its episodes.
Kaakka Kadi, was easily my favourite - for its performances (Manigandan and Nivedhithaa Sathish are delightful), witty dialogues and performances. And the 'taboo' themes it dealt with posses an ever-growing quality with age.
Naanga enna love-a pannom?
Just oru matrimonial match thaane!
Pradeep Kumar's minimalist (and strings of soaring hope) score is just enough mileage…
A well Made anthology about various stages of love on life.. The Cancer love is my pick followed by 12-year couple & then rest two.. performance wise at few places, actors doesn't look convincing but on whole it's neat.. The Tone of the film is well maintained & technically the film is good.. A Superb Anthology by the director Haleetha..
