  I'm sorry but what's up with these gay movies that suddenly have a rape scene perpetrated by the protagonist towards the middle. Unnecessary as fuck and only made me dislike the character. I really started to hate this more as time went on and I just disliked this whole closeted gay vibe shoving his insecurities towards his wife in here. (I know I should be taking into account where the story is settled and the time it happens, but no! wtf this is so wrong).

  I feel that there is an interesting story wrapped in all of this bullshit and unnecessary stuff, but somehow they made it uninteresting, anti-charismatic, and careless.

  I wanted more of the war storyline, not whatever the fuck this is.

  Snails in the Rain is an above-average gay drama about a young man named Boaz who starts questioning his sexuality after he begins receiving love letters from a secret male admirer. I'm growing a little fatigued with queer cinema coming back to the effects of self-loathing and internalized homophobia as seemingly the only tools for telling dramatically compelling stories about the culture. There has to be someone out there interested in telling a queer story that doesn't fall into miserabilism. But to be fair, that's a complaint against the genre in general and not this specific film alone.

  Snails in the Rain does fall into some of the cliches of the genre, but by structuring the story as a mystery…

  Fiercely dull.

  Am now convinced that "a man questioning his sexuality" is shorthand for a film featuring lots of heterosexual rumpy pumpy and scenes in a swimming pool.

  There's too much self-disgust and violence against women in this film about a man coming to terms with his bisexuality that I found it hard to care about the protagonist over time.

  It doesn't help that, although Yoav Reuveni doesn't give a bad performance, from what I understand he was a model rather than an actor first and foremost, and it really shows.

  A wonderful film with a lot to offer. The character Boaz was really interesting and frustrating at times as he was confused between two worlds of his life. He gets letter's from an secret admirer who is a man and also has girlfriend who lives with him. After reading the letters he goes back to his past where he was a marine and had an gay encounter. He's girlfriend knows about this letter's but never says anything to him. After two three letters he gets more confused and frustrated that he takes out his anger through a rough sex with his girlfriend. But when the final letter comes and he has to decide wether he is going to live his…
