Hey, I always love a good Jonathan Pryce performance, even in bad movies. But this is not a bad movie. This is, in fact, evidence that maybe Disney should invest in producing more horror movies for kids. This is actually a really creepy adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "Something Wicked This Way Comes" which is among my favorite of his books. It was small wonder, then, that I had high expectations for the film. It did not disappoint. There were maybe a few sections that didn't work (like where the actors hit puberty but had to shoot that still pretty upsetting scene with the spiders?) but it's rare. So far as I'm concerned, it's Disney's only horror film, but maybe one that deserves to be revisited sometime soon. In this day and age of Stranger Things and IT, maybe a renaissance for this film, or maybe a decent reboot, is in order?
