Unrelated to the last two so sadly there’s no evil greasers. There’s a few good ideas as far as the story goes but they squander that—this was some boring shit. The third time is unfortunately not the charm.
Stephen’s King’dom Marathon: Film #50
”If I’m going back to hell, you’re coming with me!”
The thing is, there’s something about the vibe of this thing that reminds me of something else, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
I don’t want to sound like I’m badmouthing this flick, but honestly it doesn’t feel anything like the other films in the series and it feels more like a Stephen King story that’s been dressed up another film’s clothing. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the problem is this thingumajig is so boring that at times it feels like it’s actually full of nothingness.
I just wish I could remember the thing that this thing reminds me of.…
Can't find confirmation on this but this movie has to have been adapted from an unrelated script, a la the 2000s Hellraisers. Has next to nothing to do with the previous two in the series, instead it's a Snow Madness movie that at first seems like At the Mountains of Madness or The Thing but is more like an earthbound Event Horizon. Pretty boring though.
Sometimes They Come Back...and Make a Sequel so Bad and Far-Removed from the Source Material that You Wonder Why It is Even a Sequel in the First Place.
No hammy villains, a terrible lead, zero scares and near zero gore...the whole thing rests on a tedious plot about demons and zombies that fails to satisfy on any level. It’s miserably boring. Literally being stranded in Antarctica would be an improvement.

Finish off the trilogy strong!
5 short stories adapted into 3 films, but not really. And there is only one short story. (out of 5)
Here lies Stephen King, cause of death: He watched Sometimes they Come Back ... for More.
Almost completely unrelated to the Stephen King short story by which it's ostensibly inspired (there's some demon stuff, but that's about it), I can't quite believe this exists, or fathom for whom precisely it was made. It's decidedly low-rent, even by the standards of late-90s DTV horror, but its claustrophobic arctic setting ends up being an inspired touch.
When I went hunting for "anniversary" films for this year's Hoop-tober, I wasn't necessarily looking for the weirdest, least-heralded efforts from 1998, but I do have a weird blind spot for horror in this era beyond the obvious touchstones, so I can't say I wasn't at least somewhat drawn to the strangeness of selecting these particular titles. I mean, hell, I have…
i originally saw this on vhs and it was titled "frozen," and no, i had no idea it was meant as a "sometimes they come back" sequel until i looked it up on the sexy 1998 version of imdb.
Cheapo blend of The Thing, Sometimes They Come Back and Highlander? Maybe? It's hard to tell what this is trying to be at times, but it most definitely does not follow the formula of the first two STCB films or the Stephen King short story. In fact, the title card on my copy says this is a movie called FROZEN. With another pass on the script and a few hundred dollars more in the budget this might have been something.
So here’s the drop in quality I was expecting after the first flick. This one doesn’t even have greasers! What’s the fucking point?!?
Now full disclosure; I love isolated arctic settings in movies, so I had no trouble making it through this piece of DTV shit, but this doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the first two movies, and in fact, there was a title card at the beginning proclaiming that this film was called ‘Frozen’, so they must have decided to stamp the ‘Sometimes They Come Back’ branding on late in the game.
Clayton Rohner of ‘Just One of the Guys’ and ‘April Fool’s Day’ is the lead this time, and the plot of this one is confusing, weird and also boring, so a trifecta of shit. There’s not much gore to save it like part two, and the supporting cast is the weakest yet. But hey, Satanic rituals in the arctic! That’s something at least.
