  Lucky Prescott's life is changed forever when she moves from her home in the city to a small frontier town and befriends a wild mustang named Spirit.

  What hopes to be a fresh take on a familiar character unfortunately winds up falling into that “conventional sequel” category. It is not technically a sequel, but it does feel like those straight-to-VHS Disney sequels we used to get in the 90’s, as this story just follows every formula we have seen before.   Generic, dull, and animation that looks like it was made for Netflix instead of theatres, Spirit Untamed is at least harmless for young kids. However, I won’t forgive this movie for wasting Jake Gyllenhaal’s talent on something like this. He deserves so much better!

  Wenn man kein achtjähriges Mädchen ist, das gerne einen Hengst zwischen seinen Beinen hätte, sollte man einen weiten Bogen um diesen laaaaaangweiligen Animationsfilm aus dem Hause Dreamworks machen.

  Aber selbst achtjährige, pferdebegeistere kleine Gören haben etwas besseres verdient als diese uninspirierte Fortsetzung von "Spirt" aus dem Jahr 2002 sowie der Netflix-Serie "Spirit - wild und frei".

  Aber hey, wir in Österreich sind wieder Mal im Lockdown und da müssen kleine Nervensäginnen beschäftigt werden. Wenn „Spirit Untamed“ Eltern dabei hilft, kleine Wendy-Verehrerinnen 90 Minuten zu beschäftigen, hat der Film jede Existenzberechtigung dieser Welt.

  I love that this is a movie for girls with a bunch of girl protagonists who are brave and heroic all on their own with no boys to help them. Man, it looks cheap, though.

  I'm clearly not Spirit Untamed's target demographic, but to be fair I didn't watch this for an inspirational story about horses and friendship. Personally, I watched it solely for Mr. Gyllenhaal.

  Sometimes you just need to watch a horse movie
