rewatched (and in 3D!!!) for the first time in over a decade, and it’s so clear why this was one of my favorite movies as a kid. i’m a firm believer that real-d 3D is currently an overused gimmick that audiences quickly got sick of after movies like avatar utilized it with purpose. for me it adds nothing of value to films that clearly only slap it on because ticket prices are higher in 3D. but this 3D trend that robert rodriguez got into in the early 2000’s with the red and blue paper glasses? so much fun and feels like exactly how 3D should be used
the plot here is incoherent and the effects are silly, and it absolutely…
i have never seen silence of the lambs but i've watched spy kids 3d twice in the last 3 months
In Twin Peaks: The Return, Kyle MacLachlan plays 3 different characters. In Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Sylvester Stallone plays 4 different characters.
Now this review may come as a shock, but as revolutionary as the 3D was, this movie’s got some flaws. The lack of Carmen is certainly notable, it’s basically the Juni Cortez show, and the absence of their balance is felt. “I didn’t even get her email address” is an all-time heartbreak, but it doesn’t make up for how little actually happens in the film. You look at Spy Kids 2 and it’s just one banging set piece after another. Here we’ve got a couple duels and then the final action scene (ngl that final showdown actually slaps), but it feels like nothing happens. That said, Tron: Legacy is indebted to this movie, and it’s an important landmark in American filmmaking
