I have a new favourite film.
I walked into the BFI Southbank cinema in London to see screenings for Suspiria only to find this gem was showing, a film that has haunted my watch list for some time now. Terrance Stamp’s eyes have long been ingrained into my head because of this.
There’s a lot to unpack here and a lot of it has been said before. For example, you can see all kinds of wonderous takes on so many things, things I haven’t experienced, things I want to, things I hold dear and even things I don’t care for.
It toys with fragility, lust, compassion, passion, disorder, art, religion, sanity, class, contemptment, jealousy, the sacred and holy, crisis’ and direction; everything.
All within one bourgeois family and their maid, who all get torn apart at the seams by TERRANCE STAMP’S DICK.
