Ghost-Cat of the Okazaki Upheaval, Kaibyô Okazaki sôdô
Kaibyô Okazaki sôdô (1954)
7/10
Seen without subtitles, which has become some sort of passtime for me. I think that this movie has a deeper meaning, something that is beyond the talky bits that bore you between the amazing camera movements that go and wander around the houses as if they looked for something, for the ghost to appear, and in many ways the visual style (with all the repeated scenes) does remind you of a haunted house ride, with things that pop out to you in many parts, but I think that the "upheaval" that the original title refers to would have a bigger part in what we see here, and hence is deemed ununderstandable and thus, missed for a non-Japanese audience. We need a box set of all these Ghost Cat movies subtitled (and this one has the least cat of them all, just one apparition, so that brings the title to question once again).
