an ugly, incoherent and misguided haunting of a kids film. i'll be seeing and hearing 98% of this shit in my dreams for sure, specifically that horrific donkey transformation scene and the chilling sounds of pinocchio taylor thomas emoting when he first gains consciousness. AWHHH. AWHHHH. HAAAAA. AWHHHHH. pure fever dream/nightmare fuel cinema, get some beers and watch it with a big group of your homies if you dare.

I am so, so glad to hear that other people had similar experiences with this film as a kid. To tell the truth, I never actually watched it, because the cover always creeped me out. It still haunts me to this day.
If you drank the water from a roller coaster ride turning into a donkey would be the least of your concerns
no offence but if i had a sweet puppet son that i carved by hand that had come to life and he turned into jonathan taylor thomas i’d be devastated
all this talk of THREE different Pinocchio movies coming out this year reminded me that at least one underrated one is probably gonna be better than at least two of ‘em— yeah that’s right: I’m still arguing for THE ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO
it’s ugly, it’s creepy, and it’s flat out incoherent at times— but there’s just a genuine charm to it that I can’t deny: whether it’s the effects from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop that still aren’t bad to this day to the fun character performances to the unique twists it takes in relation to other adaptations to the real beating heart at the center of it
this is obviously a lower budget Pinocchio but it doesn’t just feel like the cynical public domain cashgrab that so many others are— it’s not perfect: but I like it!
