If you're a horror movie nut or Vinegar Syndrome fan, you won't make any discoveries ('"Ah, the classic I DISMEMBER MAMA/BLOOD SPLATTERED BRIDE advertisement."), but this isn't just a bunch of trailers strung together. It's a genuine attempt to make a trailer compilation play like a singular mixtape, slicing out parts and tinting some footage to give it a consistent vibe. And it climaxes with the horror of THE WORM EATERS (rated PG).
Plus, the Vinegar Syndrome release includes a super charming commentary with all the people behind the project, shooting the shit about their personal histories with trailers - and best of all - there's a feature-length trailer mixtape of just SOV horror movies!
Really fun, well done. I don’t know what it says about me, but I’ve seen a surprising number of these. Corpse Grinders, Demon Wind, Brainiac, Vampire’s Coffin, I Drink Your Blood, Nightmare Weekend, Future Kill, Blood Hook, and a few more - some fun, some deadly (Nightmare Weekend is truly both tedious and WTF). There are a few that I really want to see now though, like Old Dracula, Velvet Vampire, and Demonoid.

Is Reel Film Day (3/5) an actual thing? Living in LA I take a lot of these film screenings for granted; most people I know probably haven't seen a movie on film in like 20 years and my location allows me to see a movie on 35mm every single day of the week if I had no responsibilities.
Anyway this was fun, curated trailer compilations are fun! I just realized that the SWV trailer comps that I have on DVD are on here so I'll probably log those soon.

I had reservations that an exclusively horror-themed trailer mixtape would quickly become repetitious, yet the good folks at AGFA wisely curated this collection so that it really does suck you in and avoids the uncomfortable atmosphere created by the torture-rape-laden clips found in Alamo Drafthouse's Trailer Wars compilation. This was a cozy distraction by comparison, though I wish they had a few more spikes of absolute WTF weirdness. I mean, they end on Old Dracula for Christ's sake. That said, I'd be on board for future volumes in this series. It's a bevy of my kind of B-movie comfort food in tasty bite-sized portions.
You know what isn't tasty though? The Worm Eaters. I'm not sure any trailer has ever put me off a movie faster.
An awesome horror trailer compilation from AGFA that also features ads, theater bumpers and even a Bambi Meets Godzilla short. The best parts are the gimmicky trailers such as ones where the producers promise to cover medical expenses for mental illness suffered as a result of the movie or insist that waivers must be signed prior to purchasing tickets. There's even one where we see a news report of people going mad at a double feature screening.
In addition to the 80 minute main feature, there's also a 70 minute mixtape of SOV and direct-to-dvd trailers called The AGFA Horror Trailer Show: Videorage on the special features of the blu-ray.

Watching a compilation of old horror movie trailers is always a pleasant Lazy Saturday activity, and this one from the American Genre Film Archive is smartly edited. Contains a fair number of trailers for stuff that Vinegar Syndrome has released, and multiple trailers that promise the audience insurance against insanity brought about by fright. Every trailer promises gruesome and unbearable horror, but the only trailer that is actively stomach-churning is the one for The Worm Eaters. Sidenote: Future-Kill looks kinda neat. Am I wrong to assume that?
This is basically one of the best things on the planet. Well curated and not too long. I can't believe I've never heard of Hobgoblins. I thought I had seen all of what is offered in the Gremlins ripoff sub-genre.
I live for these! Especially when they have several Troma trailers and the classic Blood-Spattered Bride/I Dismember Mama “Frenzy of Blood” trailer. Man, old horror trailers are so cool.

I’m a guy of simple taste. I see a trailer compilation, I watch it. Especially when it’s a cult movie trailer compilation.
