“It’s my tree fetish!”
So today I watched my first Éric Rohmer, and I just loved it. Such a simple, engaging story, filled with natural, overlapping conversations and wonderful characters. It’s easy to see the influence on Linklater/Hawke/Delpy’s Before trilogy. I could have spent hours in François and Lucie’s company as they do their “detecting”, talk about relationships, study and life, amidst the beautiful French scenery. I really chose a great place to start, Rohmer wise, and can’t wait to watch another.
(By the way, that Polaroid is stunning.)
“You’ve done nothing but talk, but you don’t say anything.”
“I’m saying I love you.”
