if you liked this, please also go and watch friedkin's 'bug'. it would be a hell of a double feature.
i'm awestruck every time i watch this by how horrifyingly smooth the descent into madness is; there's no definitive turning point, really. it's just a consistent, painful growth into the monster that looms over it from the very beginning.
also, it's so incredible how tight and dense of a metaphor it is without ever getting bogged down in rehashed symbolism or illusion-breaking analogy.
i need more jennifer kent. the nightingale can't come soon enough.
