Not so much a story as a collection of characters spouting unbearably schmaltzy one-liners taken directly from a self-help book. The filmic equivalent of a Live Laugh Love poster.
this has the vibe of a lost film that three people in the UK are desperately trying to track down because they remember it aired once on television in 1972
Cute story and beautiful animation but every single line is trying to be “that line” which creates a really broken narrative. It’s like all the characters are having a competition to out quote each other lol.
Would’ve worked better as a silent film with music. The images are so beautiful and speak for themselves.
Too preachy. Too many monologues that decrease the poignance of the previous one.
Still enjoyed it, but it could’ve been so much better.
“Life is difficult, but you are loved.”
30 minutes of earnest kindness. A safe space to cry. Heavily reminiscent of the same feelings I get with The Little Prince. Something I see myself returning to again and again.
“One of our greatest freedoms is choosing how we react to things.”
I’ve seen this twice now and it’s just absolutely beautiful. It’s just perfect. The most charming and heartwarming piece of animation.
Such wonderful messages for everyone. I know I’ll certainly watch it if I’m feeling low.
And the first time it made me cry because it’s just so wholesome.
30 minutes of dialogue pulled from fortune cookies and Hallmark cards to form the most saccharine short of the nominees. Less of a movie and more of an advertisement for those signs you see at TJ Maxx, the ones the suburbia moms gobble up and share on Facebook to show off to their high school friends that they swear they don’t care about (but very clearly do).
Cutesy animals and pretty animation doesn’t distract from the banality of the narrative.
