that scene where jacob tremblay is screaming at his tv when kit harington appears... i felt that
Behind on my logging... but thought I'd jump ahead and log this one in case people are not aware it's currently in theaters. Pretty under the radar. There isn't even a poster displayed at the theater I saw it at last night.
Anyway, obviously this isn't one of Xavier's strong efforts. Lots of head scratching moments BUT there's lots of talent here that should be recognized. Great performances across the board (almost) with the highlights being Jacob Tremblay, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates.
And the GORGEOUS Super 35mm cinematography by André Turpin is reason enough to see this film. Turpin is way underappreciated. Vantage One T1 lenses, btw.

Kit Harrington was fantastic; Xavier Dolan was sitting about a meter to the left of me and he was on his phone for a lot of it.
how am i meant to take death and life of john f donovan seriously when its scored by my 2016 spotify playlist
“it was the only connection i had with the life i dreamed of”
...they had us in the first half, i’m not gonna lie. this was so close to being... something. but by the second hour it lost ground fast, unraveling somewhere between kit’s inability to act and the muddled plotlines... oh well. but i’ll always stand by xavier and his ambitious music and editing choices. my kryptonite every time
kit harrington begging xavier dolan to release john f donovan so he has something else to put in his showreel to seperate the game of thrones clips
y'all really had me thinking this was gonna be bad well boo you this was GOOD dolan nation where u at??????!!?!?! ✊✊✊
not 2 be an emo bitch but may 11, 2017, xavier tweeted me about how the trailer for this movie was going to come out in september of 2017. as we all know it never did, and the release date for the film kept getting postponed. today i stood in the rain waiting to see xavier outside the theatre where they were going to have the premiere of this film and couldn't help but think back to that tweet. xavier made me love films. The Scene™️ in mommy (2014) will always have a special place in my heart because that's when the lightbulb in my head lit up and said "this is why movies are made". anyway, i got to…
I just want to sit down with dolan, cut some magazines, sip some wine, and help him fix this
i think my favourite thing about xavier dolan's direction is how beautiful he can make people. it made my heart swell to see thandie newton and amara karan shot in a way that captures everything i love about them. even with kit harington (whom this lesbian has never at all seen the appeal of) i found myself seeing what xavier must see in him. the gay gaze is just that powerful.
