The Ferryman - Jeder muss zahlen, איש המעבורת, 摆渡人
An ugly and mean movie with a very handsome 😍Maori😍 man with a thick kiwi accent! +_+ What more could I want!?
This movie has pretty much no chill, and just makes people do really messed up stuff outta nowhere but I love cruelty in my movies, so.. works for me!!
This is def a hidden gem imo!! It's kind of a mix between Evil Dead, Freaky Friday and Dead Calm??? Loves it!
I like horror films that take place on boats. It's a great location for shit to go down.
This is a pretty good flick about a murderous spirit that goes from person to person on a yacht, turning them into killers.
I would've like it if they kept who was possessed a secret, though. It would of upped the paranoia. It seems a weird decision, once they've established the mythology, to let the audience know who is a threat as soon as someone is taken over. And this also has some of the worst placement of pop songs I can recall ever seeing in a horror film. And man, do they ever break the rule of "Don't kill a dog…
Hail to the Fantasy Filmfest - Film No.2
Release: 2007
Meine letzte Sichtung von The Ferryman ist sicherlich schon 13 Jahre her.

Gimliest Catch
Three couples take a pleasure cruise from New Zealand to Fiji but encounter Quik Stop Quint and his ghost ship along the way. As the sus sole survivor, John Rhys-Davies is here to chew scenery and kick ass, and he’s running out of scenery since most of this thing takes place on the yacht. The ensemble cast act like they’re in one of those “How to Host a Murder Mystery” parties where they ask each other questions to share backstories.
“It says here I’m the shallow, bikini girl, trophy girlfriend. My signature trait is Selfish. So, I guess I vote we ignore the distress signal.”
“But then we won’t get any more clues.”
“Oh, yeah. Right.”…
You have to be willing to overlook a lot of flaws to enjoy The Ferryman. Dodgy American accents, graphic displays of animal cruelty and misogynistic violence are just a few of the things that held me back from enjoying this.
This movie is unforgiving and brimming with potential as a dark horror film. The little yacht is claustrophobic, the foggy open waters are atmospheric and they definitely don't go easy on the blood. Some really great horror sequences mixed in with stuff I didn't like so much.
Major warning for dog lovers - stay far away! Worth watching if you love this kind of horror and have seen everything else.
The idea is great and executed well. Some of the acting is over-the-top in a good way. It did feel mean-spirited at times and I can't say I enjoyed it very much.
I think I liked this a bit more than I probably should have. It's not particularly good but in terms that fans of the genre will understand it's of a type of horror that is particularly 'take no prisoners'. And sometimes that just works. The body-hopping spirit doesn't seem to make a lot of plans and there's a fair amount of victims in waiting to be the next host. I don't know...just a weird vibe on this one that I dug. Grim and gritty and grimy. Your mileage may vary.
One of those horrors that you could be forgiven for having seen before and completely forgetting about. It's an interesting premise but also pretty mean spirited in places, kind of a background distraction type of movie.
The idea of an entity that can swap bodies and is perpetually running from death sounded like an interesting premise. However, the movie was so-so and once cruelty to the dog occurred it turned me completely off and I was done with the movie.
SAW IT AT MY SERIES OF WATCHING FILMS i MISSED AT FANTASTIC FEST.
Its a clever story about a body swapping entity, but it has a scene were they hurt a dog and the movie just turn me off from there.
