NZIFF2020 #10: This wasn’t on my radar to watch at all; I skimmed past it when building my Wishlist and then I saw a review headline that said every kiwi parent should watch this. I’m so glad I did as this hit me like a tonne of bricks.
Jazz Thornton is an incredible young woman doing many great things around discussing suicide and changing peoples attitudes to this serious problem. This documentary that starts about the making of her web series about the suicide of her friend Jess, quickly becomes a deeper character study on Jazz and what she’s dealt with and going through, while helping others who are suicidal.
I hope this documentary helps further the discussions, awareness and changes people’s attitudes towards suicide so that we can all just care more about and for each other.
