if you were in academia i think you could write a good paper about this and Uncut Gems and the relation between jews and other minorities in america as imagined/told by jews. no one would read it and that's fine.
So, I first watched this film in Hebrew school when I was 11 or 12 and its had a sort of profound effect on me. It's not a good movie for the most part. Has all the elements of cheap, goofy comedy-central movies from the early 2000s. The actual plot is silly and it unfolds in a somewhat lazy way, with the actual investigating done by our Certified Circumcised Dick being damn near non-existent or overly basic and convenient (evil-Santa (Damien Claus) literally mails a DVD to Hammer to explain his plan? The fuck?
BUUUUUUUT. All that aside. All the flaws. All the goofiness. I love this movie. Partially it's nostalgia, but also because it brings up very real experiences…
There is some poor filmmaking skills here in this film. Some really crappy cinematography and some poor choices in the script department. The effects and sets are not great and...
All that matters not because this movie is not about those things. Nope, it's about being Jewish. And not a religious Jew, no, a Jew who grew up with a sprinkling of Judaism, who went to public school, who knows a few Hebrew words, who doesn't follow all the rules. I am that Jew and this film was made for the likes of me.
Coming from that background, and I guess if you know someone like me/that type, then you will laugh as hard at this movie as I did.…
The Jewxploitation classic where jokes might have flown over my head simply because I'm not Jewish.
You know going into it that Hammer is a one-joke movie. And that joke gets, um, hammered into you until it ceases to be funny if it ever was.
You do laugh at times, depending on your level of Judaism and if your circumcision was a really big deal.
It's a breezy 80 plus minutes and you've seen much worse. And it's got Judy Greer.
"Shabbat shalom Motherfuckers!". If that line gets an immediate laugh from you, you will probably like this more than most.

I think the reason I never watched this movie despite being a pretty avid Comedy Central viewer growing up was that it played pretty late and I couldnt figure out how to record from the VCR. Way more fun than I figured a Comedy Central movie from 2003 would be. Gonna give these guys an A for effort on the gags, the original music and the shit they got away with for TV.
Some (all?) of the racial comedy has definitely not aged too well but some things like Adam Goldberg killing Nazis have aged great. Pretty good movie to spend Hanukkah with 😊😊😊
