  i. the horrors of a new house. the unknown, creepy carpenters. the feel of living in a shapeshifting museum instead of a home. the unbearable work that strips you away just to even afford it.

  ii. the hallucinating stress of trying to come up with something new, only to have it consumed by a crowd of people who never cared and never will.

  iii. An apocalyptic goodbye to an old friend: the earth. one big grieving process, as an era ends and the new one begins. grief never leaves you, but you learn to control it.

  such a weird, beautiful, surreal, terrifying experience from start to finish. the house touches on so many things, it kinda upsets me. Definitely warrants…

  I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS AND THEORIES!! THIS IS SUCH A GOOD, TRAGIC FILM UGHH. anyways every single segment is a depressing metaphor.

  I. this part was horrifying but the world is a scary place for an eight year old. dramatic changes in childhood can come with confusion. the family is poor. theyre probably moving a lot, trying to get by, selling their beloved possessions. whenever the house visually changes, its just a different place. something something downsizing, something something losing your parents to their own grief.
