The New York Times Presents: The Killing of Breonna Taylor
Essential. If you watch this documentary and still believe that there is not systemic racism in policing, then you are beyond saving. The investigative journalism here is fantastic, and every single angle is explored. A must-watch.
it is viscerally wrong that only 40 people have logged this on letterboxd (03/13/2021). framing britney spears, another doc from this same series from the NYT, has 45k logs. this country is broken, so broken.

This case is just a drop in the Olympic-sized swimming pool that is systemic racism in America. But if anyone can watch this, with testimonials from people directly connected to the case AND the LMPD saying that the police didn’t do their job right and that justice was once again swept under the rug, and still somehow find a way to justify the actions of the cops and blame Breonna, you’re a fool, and your opinion is very telling of the type of person you are.
Heartbreaking story. Definitely a film that makes you mad, and it leaves you with a sense of frustration and despair. Not particularly imaginative in execution, but still solid. Definitely important to watch.
I am glad I finally watched this. Overall I am just really sad and frustrated about the content of these 58 minutes and what the case says about the systemic issues affecting entire communities across the U.S. It is nice to see how local figures, neighbors and family members have a voice in the documentary.
Rest in Power.
Hearing those calls. Fucking chilling. Today's a good day to prosecute the officers who killed Ms. Breonna Taylor.
