Good, but not great.
This is the first and only Fijian film. It was shot on the island Rotuma, and is set in the 1950s when Rotuma was a British colony.
The film opens with a man telling his daughter a story of the island's first inhabitant, the warrior woman. It's a really strong opening.
Unfortunately, most of the following scenes aren't as interesting.
Our protagonist and her father are pretty well fleshed, and they're the main focus of the film. They work very well, but unfortunately every other character is pretty one dimensional, especially the main villain.
