A stage comes where Kevin Spacey held George Clooney at gun point
Clooney: "Put the gun down there."
Spacey starts crying and places the gun in his mouth
Abruptly interrupts and realises all of a sudden
"Wow, I am really hungry."
Runs to get some meal.
I am not even making this up, it is quite possibly the most perfect 30 seconds sequence I've ever seen.
PERFECT.
“What's with the quotation fingers? It's like saying I'm only capable of ironic attacking or something.”
With such a heavily weighted cast, and what seems to be a high production film, I have learned over my film watching experience that those two entities don’t always equal the equivalent of a good film. In this case, they most certainly do not.
So 20% of the jokes in the film were direct towards Ewan McGregor and using the word ‘Jedi’ and him acting all confused. Haha! HAHAHAHA! I get it guys; he was a Jedi in Star Wars. I get it. Then, the rest was just a complete mess of George Clooney looking like an idiot while they gallivanted around in Iraq…
I JUST WANT A FILM WHERE EWAN MCGREGOR IS SCOTTISH IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR ????
"It's the Silence of the Goats!" - Bob Wilton
This reminds me of a lesser Coen Brothers film. You've got Jeff Bridges at his most mellow, George Clooney at his most mental and quite a bit of casual weirdness thrown into the mix. But it's not. It's from the producer of Argo and the writer of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy; two pretty serious thrillers. It's a wonder how this has come from this dream-team.
Acting-wise, it's just fine for this particular story. As I mentioned before, Clooney and Bridges are in full-blown Coen-mode, and Ewan McGregor is nicely exasperated as the tag-along. Kevin Spacey is basically an extended cameo, but when these three manage to steal the show, that's good…
This satirical dark comedy war film stars George Clooney, Jeff Bridges and Ewan McGregor, loosely based on a non-fiction book of the same name, and follows a journalist who discovers that the US military have been looking into psychic warfare.
It was very offbeat and quirky, and I liked the slightly surreal humour, although it became a bit too strange as it went on. I found the film quite hit or miss, with several parts working really well and being entertaining, while other moments felt unnecessary and silly. The cast was really likeable and bring the characters to life, and do a really good job, although some of them have relatively small screen time.
As it’s loosely based on a…
Han Solo voice: that's not how the force works!
it is honestly remarkable how kevin spacey is literally the most insufferable person in every single film he is in. makes me wonder whether he was ever even acting
