Kinda boring, kinda obvious, kinda moral-preaching-while-not-really-having-anything-to-say, kinda perfect for the Oscars.
Won an Oscar for BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT
Just saw it this afternoon. It was a REAR WINDOW ripoff about people who had no idea other people had any problems. Yikes!!!! Hope it touched some people, though.
must a short film always be emotional and make me cry? can’t a short film be fun and happy
While one couple were missing their youth, the other were dreaming of their future.
This really moved me.
Contentment is the realization of how much you already have.
“You’re not the only one who misses being twenty.”
it gets a bit overly melodramatic and this family has some major upper-class white people problems but then “nobody else will be there” by the national starts playing and it gets all soft and really good and by the end i was as invested in it as Alli was in her neighbors’ lives. ties into a nice allegory for how we tend to let ourselves be carried away by the films we observe.
OSCAR NOMINEE: Live action short
Tenants get obsessed with what their neighbors, who they can see through the window, are going. They long for the neighbors youth and looks until something happens that helps them appreciate their own lives. It's good but a little too sappy for me and slow at moments, even for a short film.
