I won't lie, I can see why.
When done well, handheld horror films can be really great. The problem is that so many of the films that adopt this popular style would work far better if made in a more traditional style.
Handheld camera films should not show several different stories taking place in several different places, it exposes the style as a cheap gimmick and becomes frustrating with each new camera that gets introduced.
Also, if you're going to use shaky cam, you need a fucking amazing cinematographer to make sure that the viewer can actually make out place and action during the chaos. I genuinely…
