The year is 2143. The Pope’s Exorcist Chapter 120 has been released. Russel Crowe’s consciousness has been uploaded into an A.I. Movies are consumed by chewing a piece of gum. The movie wins 30 Academy Awards. It makes a trillion a dollars. The Pope’s Exorcist is the most profitable franchise of all time. Statues of Russell Crowe are erected. Approximately 60% of babies are names Russell. 20% are named Crowe. Wars cease. Life expectancy increases by 7%. Croweism is reported to be more popular than Catholicism and Christianity combined. 30 more sequels are ordered. The continents have formed Pangea again. Pluto is reinstated as a planet. A 10th planet is found. It’s been called Amorth in honor of The Pope‘s Exorcist.
Some movies tease one sequel, this one teases 199. Fuck it, as long as Russell Crowe has an Italian accent and a Vespa I’m there.
Russell Crowe is a boss riding that Vespa around Europe fighting demons. He was hysterical. It’s his resurgence era I think. This movie was a lot better than I was expecting. A lot of crazy fun.

Pulpy, atmospheric, and fun. Plays out like a standard possession chiller in the opening reel but it eventually feels more like a mix of alternative Vatican Dan Brown type material and the Tomb Raider video games. The climax on this bad boy is absolutely nuts. Russell Crowe continues to elevate everything he's in, and here, a gigachad exorcist is ripe material for his brand of scenery chewing.
“Let’s go to hell.”
kind of like an mcu movie but russell crowe is iron man and the pope is nick fury
2ND EVER DOUBLE FEATURE AT THE MOVIE THEATER
Story-wise, the picture adds nothing new to the zillions of other exorcism movies that have been made since The Exorcist captured the zeitgeist. Visually, the cinematography is excellent, and there is some really good atmosphere and visuals, especially in a scene involving a bed and most of the third act. The music is fine, however, it is somewhat conventional for a film of this genre. The needle drops on the other hand are great.
The film's decision to adopt a wholly campy tone, combined with certain camerawork and humor that remind me of Raimi, is what makes it worth watching. The picture functions largely as a black comedy, with a dash of…
Completely bonkers, so over the top and crazy, pure popcorn style entertainment. I love this era of Russell Crowe going full ham, this movie is good, but it becomes great because of his fabulous performance, he’s having a ball and you can really tell. His character was so good, I’d love more movies with this character, perhaps a franchise in the works? Bring it on, more camp Rusty on his lil Vespa and robes flapping in the wind.
