2019 ‘El remedio’ Directed by Tom Sanchez
Cecilia, a Mexican immigrant, learns from her doctor that she has a benign cyst that will disappear on its own. When the doctor mentions that sexual intercourse could speed up the process, she realizes she hasn't had sex in five years. That night, her friend Josselyn takes her to a dive bar to 'fill her prescription.' But when the two women go home with some suitors, Cecilia will make a surprising discovery of what's really been ailing her.

This is a short film you forget about as soon as it ends.
I give THE PRESCRIPTION credit for focusing on Mexican characters living in California and being entirely in Spanish, having a cultural element that I'm sure some will appreciate. But it's just a very amateur short film with a simplistic message.
Cecilia is a young woman who has always struggled with sex. One night, after an encounter with some guys in a bar goes in a certain direction, she feels uncomfortable, only to arrive at yet another LGBT revelation.
I just thought everything about this film failed. None of the acting was very strong, the camerawork wasn't very ambitious, and the lesbian reveal is just...uninspired. Whereas other similar HBO shorts are at least well-intentioned in their messaging, this just felt like a lazy answer that didn't really develop Cecilia that much.
Trying to have a good message just isn't enough anymore.
