This documentary features interviews which get into some of the philosophical as well as the technical issues confronting the filmmakers behind Alex Garland's 2014 science fiction film 'Ex Machina'.
While it's a bit too focused on the technical aspects of the film more than the intellectual and cinematic components, it's still a very fine making-of documentary with some truly insightful moments from the cast and crew as well as Alex Garland himself.
you can really tell how much everyone loved working on EX MACHINA and i just think that’s neat
A Non-Consequential Study of Oscar Isaac Part Forty-Two.
I love how enthusiastic everyone in this is. This was a movie crafted with love and dedication and it really shows.
Really hope we get a third feature where Oscar Isaac can work with Alex Garland.
“So, yeah, I think I might become a Luddite again, go anti-technology for a little bit.”
A behind-the-scenes making-of documentary that focuses on the visual and technical achievements of the film, with insight and interviews from the cast and crew. Enjoyed hearing of Oscar Isaac’s obsession with Alex Garland’s screenplay for the Danny Boyle film Sunshine that he auditioned for.
Really reinforces the physicality required for the performances of Alicia Vikander and Sonoya Mizuno as Ava and Kyoko, respectively, while highlighting the latter’s background as a dancer.
Interesting to see the idea behind Ava being allowed more space to roam during their sessions while Caleb is enclosed in a small box, like a tiger that you can tell doesn’t belong in the zoo.
Didn’t think I needed any more convincing as to why this is my favourite film ever, but here we go.
Alex Gardland also wearing Arc’teryx on set in 2014 also shows just how far ahead he is on society.
Oscar Isaac the best actor of our generation
i'm so glad that i'm alive at the same century as him
